With over 15 years of experience and direct leadership of pre-construction efforts on more than 300 projects, Steve brings a proven ability to deliver predictable, scalable results in fast-paced development programs. He is responsible for driving projects from early concept through contract execution, overseeing estimating, design coordination, permitting, and client advisory services as the single point of accountability throughout pre-construction. Steve has managed programs supporting up to $50 million in annual project volume, including high-growth national rollouts of approximately 40 locations per year. His experience working within existing retail, mixed-use, and landlord-controlled environments allows him to anticipate challenges early and keep projects moving without unnecessary delays. A defining strength of Steve’s approach is his process-driven mindset. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model, he builds customized workflows and team structures around each client’s program—improving speed, consistency, and cost control across every location. Under his leadership, Banyan has consistently delivered fully coordinated, permit-ready construction plans within a 25-business-day timeline, without missing a client-driven deadline within its control. Clients rely on Steve to identify and solve planning, cost, and lease-related challenges early—minimizing risk, avoiding rework, and maintaining alignment with both schedule and budget. He provides clear, proactive communication at every stage, ensuring clients always understand project status, next steps, and key decisions without ambiguity. Known for his direct and accountable leadership style, Steve takes full ownership of project outcomes. He is proactive in resolving issues and removing obstacles—even in complex or gray areas—to keep projects progressing and protect client interests. His approach is rooted in long-term partnership, evidenced by repeat client relationships and Banyan’s role as a preferred general contractor for brands such as Sola Salons, Jinya Ramen Bars, Hounds Town, and Woodhouse Day Spa. Steve’s career at Banyan spans quality control, warranty management, estimating, and field operations, including hands-on experience as a superintendent. This end-to-end perspective allows him to bridge the gap between planning and execution, ensuring projects are not only well-designed on paper, but successful in the field. He holds a degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision from Purdue University’s School of Engineering and Technology. As Banyan’s Director of Construction, Mike brings deep industry expertise to every stage of our work—from project estimating and planning to special project consulting and overseeing all ground-up construction. A graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Construction Management, he brings more than 20 years of commercial construction experience to the team. Mike’s career includes leading projects across a wide range of sectors, including medical facilities, grocery, education, churches, restaurants, animal care, retail centers, and large-scale mall developments. He spent several years working closely with Simon Property Group and has built strong relationships across national brands. Known for his commitment to clear, proactive communication, Mike embodies Banyan’s “Happy Owner” value—ensuring every client feels informed, confident, and supported. Some of Mike’s notable projects include multiple Simon Mall locations, numerous Trader Joe’s stores, VCA Animal Hospitals, Amazon Fresh, and Crew Carwash locations.
